Match Report 8/9/19 N & G Ring Pairs Cup

10 anglers fished the N & G Ring Pairs Cup match on Sunday 8th September at Drayton St. Leonard from 7.30am to 12.30pm. The format for the match is each angler draws a peg as normal then all the peg numbers are drawn in random pairs & the combined weight of each pair goes to the final result. Unfortunately the anglers were greeted by the first frost of the season which always seems to have a major negative effect on the fish and a low river. On the plus side the wind was negligible, conditions were fine & the river had good colour. Winners were Bryan "Otter" Ball & Kevin Smith who fished pegs 10 & 14 respectively for a combined weight of 4lb 2oz. Bryan included some decent sized roach in his net of 2lb 4oz whilst Kevin weighed 1lb 14oz despite being plagued by minnows and troubled by pike throughout the match. Second were Julian Rayment & Trevor Cantwell with a combined weight of 3lb 9oz. Julian weighed in 1lb 13oz & Trevor contributed 1lb 12oz. Best weight of the day went to 11 year old Henry Rayment who fished Peg 6 & included a perch of 1.5lb in his net of 2lb 7oz!
