Match Report 27/9/20 - John Smith Trophy

12 anglers fished the John Smith Trophy match at Drayton Bridge on Sunday 27th September from 12.30pm to 5.30pm. The elements had conspired against us as the temperature had dropped by 10 degrees centrigade during the previous 5 days, bright sunshine was forecast & the river was rapidly rising. Expectations of good weights were low but the river did fish reasonably. Winner was one of our newer members Richard Burrell with 3lb 9oz from Peg 7 narrowly beating Joey Gleed into second place as he weighed in 3lb 5oz from Peg 6. Third came Kevin Smith with 2lb 12oz from Peg 23 & fourth was Charlie Green with 2lb 4oz from Peg 22. The organisers of the Thame Championship Teams Of Four match scheduled for the 4th October & the Wheatley Teams Of Three Match due on the 11th October have both cancelled their fixtures. We plan to fish an Open Match on our waters to replace the cancelled match on the 11th October & further details of venue & times will follow.
