10 anglers fished the Cuddesdon Cup match on Sunday 18th October from 12.30pm to 5.30pm. Match Secretary Bryan Ball changed the match venue from Cuddesdon to Chiselhampton as the Cuddesdon stretch was still flooded after recent heavy rain and made the match a "rover" whereby the angler drawing number one gets first choice of peg, number two gets second choice and so on. Conditions on the day were near perfect with the river fining down, hardly any wind, overcast & no rain in the forecast for a change! Inexplicably peg numbers 1 to 9 above Chiselhampton road bridge just didn't fish despite the conditions & they all struggled to get a bite. Conversely all the pegs below the road bridge 10 to 24 fished well for some strange reason. Winner on the day was Kevin Smith who knew a long walk would be the order of the day as he'd drawn number 8 out of 10 & that would be the only way to get a decent peg. He made the walk worthwhile with 9lb 7oz from Peg 23. Kevin caught quality dace & chub around 2oz - 6oz  in size on pole fished maggot for the first hour and a half before the attentions of two sizeable pike disrupted the fishing. Kevin caught one of them around the 5lb mark & released it further downstream but the second pike evaded capture & continued to cause problems. Around 4pm as the light began to fade decent size roach began to feed & fish up to 12oz were caught. Second place was Charlie Green on Peg 17 with 4lb 0oz. Charlie had a chub approaching 3lb & a 10oz trout along with some dace. Third was Richard Cantwell on Peg 10 with 3lb 4oz & fourth was 11 year old Henry Rayment with 8oz from Peg 6. Also of note was Bryan Ball who managed to hook & lose two "proper" chub on Peg 12 fishing bread.
