13 anglers fished the Charles Bown Cup at Drayton St. Leonard from 7.30am to 12.30pm. Weather conditions were more suited to sunbathing than fishing with brilliant sunshine and 30 degree heat! As a result of the weather weights were predictably low. Eventual winner was Joey Gleed on Peg 8 with 2lb 9oz. Joey caught a chub of around 1lb and two decent perch on float fished worm over chopped worm. The rest of his weight were small fish caught on pinkie sized maggot. Joint second were Kevin Smith & Bryan Butler from Pegs 3 & 4 with 2lb 3oz narrowly beating Julian Rayment & Dick Matin into joint fourth place with 2lb 2oz from Pegs 15 & 20. Three barbel around 8oz - 10oz in very good condition were caught during the match which bodes well for the future. Next match is the Hue Williams Cup at Chiselhampton on Sunday the 15th of July. The draw will take place at 2.15pm & the match will be fished from 3pm to 8pm.
