We had the pleasure of the company of the club's founding member John Hemmings and his wife at our recent trophy presentation dinner evening held at The Coach & Horses Chiselhampton. John is the original founding member of the club and was invited to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary. John made the following speech:

"Cuddesdon Mill Village Angling Association was formed on the 28th of March 1967 at the Bat and Ball Public House in Cuddesdon. I went with Reece Jenkins from Denton to put up notices in all the local village pubs calling for an inaugural meeting. This took several evenings and also involved a drink at each pub! The Reverend Runcie was asked to become President of the newly formed club and he later became Archbishop Of Canterbury. I owe a great deal of gratitude to the officers and committee like Geoff Ring and also the members who gave me great support at the time. I would particularly like to also thank the Greenaway brothers who always produced the right tools to do the job to make foot bridges, styles and clearing debris from the swims. It has been a pleasure and an honour to have come along today to celebrate the club's 50 years. I also thank the officers, committee, members and landowners for keeping the club running. On behalf of myself and my wife I wish you all the very best for the future."
