10 anglers fished the Pike Cup Match at Chiselhampton from 9am to 2pm on Sunday 6/1/19. Weather conditions were good but the river was running low & clear which is unusual for this time of year. Bites were hard to come but eventual winner was Tony Coffin on Peg 10 with a pike of 6lb 8oz. Two rods are allowed in this match & Tony tried various lures & plugs to no avail. A swithch to an Ondex No.6 spinner did the trick with the pike taking the lure first cast! Kevin Smith came second with a single pike of 2lb 15oz from Peg 5. Kevin legered two roach deadbaits & pulled out of a big fish just before 12 noon. A second bite at 1.15pm resulted in the pike of 2lb 15oz. Bryan Butler lost an estimated 5lb pike at the net downstream at Peg 23.
