The attendance for the Battle Cup match at Cuddesdon on Sunday 28/7/19 was only seven anglers which was rather disappointing! The match was fished from 7.30am to 12.30am and the draw for pegs took place at 6.30am which may explain the low attendance. Conditions were good and the winner was Kevin Smith on Peg 3 with 4lb 9oz. Kevin caught well over 100 small fish with none bigger than 4oz. The weight consisted of a real mixed bag of roach, chub, dace, perch, gudgeon & bleak. Second was Julian Rayment on Peg 10 with 3lb 10oz which was mainly roach. Third was Charlie Green on Peg 1 with 2lb 1oz & fourth was Bryan Ball on Peg 5 who weighed in 1lb 14oz. Interestingly Bryan switched to legered maggot late in the match and hooked three of the small barbel which the Environment Agency stocked in September 2016. Unfortunately one of the barbel was grabbed by a large pike which Bryan estimated to be around 10lb!
