Match Report 25/8/19 - Horspath Cup

With several anglers on holiday only eight decided to fish the Horspath Cup match on Sunday 25th August 2019 from 7.30am to 12.30pm. A very hot sunny day with temperatures due to hit 30 degrees centigrade was forecast. Predictably bites diminished as the sun rose in the sky & illuminated the river. All pegs upstream of Chiselhampton road bridge were out of commission as the footbridge over the Chalgrove brook is completely missing & awaiting replacement which may take several months! As a result only downstream peg numbers 10 to 24 were available to fish. Winner was Kevin Smith on Peg 21 with 3lb 7oz. Kevin caught mainly roach on pole fished red maggot. Second was Tony Coffin on Peg 22 with 2lb 10oz. Third was Joey Gleed on Peg 23 with 2lb 6oz. Joey had a nice perch of around 1.5lb but lost two big fish during the match. Bryan "Otter" Ball also lost a large fish on Peg 24.
