14 anglers fished the Charles Bown Trophy match at Drayton Bridge on Sunday 19th July from 7.30am to 12.30pm. It made a pleasant change to finally fish a match in decent weather conditions without high winds! Heavy overnight rain finally stopped just before the start of the match and the overcast conditions continued until noon when the sun finally broke through so conditions were near perfect for the duration of the match. Winner was Kevin Smith with 6lb 8oz from Peg 15. The bulk of Kevin's weight was made up of small chub up to 6oz with a significant number of dace, roach & perch. The majority of the fish caught came to pole fished maggot. Second was Dick Martin with a commendable weight of 6lb 2oz from Peg 6 who used similar tactics. Third was Charlie Green with 3lb 4oz from Peg 20 & fourth was Ray Cook with 3lb 0oz from Peg 2. Next match is Sunday 2nd August when we will be fishing the new 20 peg venue at Drayton Farm from 3pm to 8pm with a 2pm arrival time. Please ensure you book in for the match with Bryan Ball by 1pm on Saturday 1st August.
