  • 21 June 2018
  • Richard Borrell

The first match of the new season was fished at Chiselhampton on Sunday 17/6/18 from 7.30am to 12.30pm. 13 anglers fished the John Hemmings Cup match in near ideal conditions. First place was Kevin Smith with 4lb 10oz from Peg 8, Trevor Cantwell came second with 2lb 5oz from Peg 13, Richard Cantwell was third with 1lb 15oz from Peg 17 & fourth was Chris Dibsdall with 1lb 12oz from Peg 10. The winning method was pole fished maggot which accounted for a nice mixed net of mainly chub, roach & dace topped up with a few gudgeon, bleak & minnows. Several of the chub & roach appeared to be newly stocked fish that were introduced in April. Next match is the Charles Wiblin Twilight Trophy which will be fished at Cuddesdon from 3pm to 8pm on Sunday 24th June. The match draw will take place at 2.15pm and this is normally a very well attended match though it is going to conflict with England versus Panama in the football World Cup which kicks off at 1pm!
