Despite this match being moved from Cuddesdon to Chiselhampton due to flooding it was still touch & go whether this match would be able to be fished. Eventually it was decided to fish the match as a rover (rather than peg down) using the downstream section of Chiselhampton & the top end of Drayton where the banks are higher as at least 50% of the pegs were unfishable! Eight anglers fished the Ron Smith Rosebowl from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 10/11/19. Conditions on the day were bright & sunny with light winds & a rising river which was just within its banks. The big chub were elusive on the day & the chub that did feed were almost all caught on maggot. Winner on the day was Bryan Ball who won his second successive match with 2lb 11oz from Chiselhampton peg 11. Bryan lost a decent roach on maggot early in the match so decided to change tactics & fish lighter with a 1.5lb hooklength & a size 20 hook with single maggot. Needless to say he hooked a decent chub of 2.5lb and his buttocks were firmly clenched whilst trying to play the fish on such light gear in fast water! He eventually managed to net the chub which along with a couple of small fish gave him a winning weight of 2lb 11oz. Second was Kevin Smith with a chub of 1lb 6oz rom Drayton peg 2 & third was Julian Rayment from Drayton Peg 4 with two small chub & a gudgeon for 11oz.
