10 anglers fished the Battle Cup at Cuddesdon from 7.30am to 12.30pm. They were greeted by near perfect conditions as the recent rain had increased the flow and put some colour into the river. Eventual winner was Dick Martin from Peg 3 who started on the conventional Summer method of pole fished maggot but a timely change to sweetcorn saw the stamp of roach he was catching substantially increase and he recorded a comfortable win with 4lb 13oz. Supporting weights were closely contested with only 2oz separating 2nd & 4th place! Second placed angler was Kevin Smith from Peg 26 with 3lb 10oz, third place was Richard Cantwell from Peg 10 with 3lb 9oz just beating Joey Gleed on end Peg 28 into fourth place with 3lb 8oz. Next club match is the Barry Greenaway Cup at Drayton St. Leonard on Sunday 13/8/17, this is an afternoon / evening match from 3pm - 8pm which suits the members that don't like early morning starts! If you haven't match fished before you are very welcome to come along, the draw will take place at 2.15pm at Drayton Bridge.
