Major habitat improvement works due to start week commencing 11/6/18

The long planned habitat improvement works are scheduled to start week commencing 11/6/18 at Chiselhampton. The plans are for the creation of two riffles and four fish refuge backwaters. The riffles will narrow the river over newly introduced gravel to create ideal  habitat & spawning areas (particularly for the barbel) & the fish refuge backwaters will create safe havens for the fish to escape the main flow of the river when it's in flood, this should particularly help to preserve juvenile fish that would be swept downstream. The main funding for the works is coming from the River Thame Conservation Trust & the Environment Agency. Additional funding is also being provided by the Barbel Society, Thame Valley Fisheries Preservation Consultative & Cuddesdon Mill Village Anglers Association. Many thanks to all those helping with this project.
