January 2024 on the river thame

Finally the weather is allowing the river to drop within its banks. Hopefully we can have some reasonable conditions to go and search out a few of the chub hiding away in the river. If the conditions allow we will try and fit in the match we lost last yr due to conditions and if we are lucky may even get an extra match before the end of the season. Any of our members who wish to join us on a match are always welcome and we will always give advice and assistance to anyone new to fishing a match.

If any of our members have good catches along our stretches of water you can always let us know by using the contact e mail on the site. It is always good to know what is happening along the river. If any of you spot any mink it would be helpful to know where these are spotted. River thame conservation trust are starting a water vole project on the Thame but firstly we need to eradicate the mink which will also be a benefit to fish stocks.

We have several plans again for the upcoming close season to improve some of the swims and open up other new swims. We always have space for a few extra bodies for some of this work and obviously all of our members benefit from this.
