A good start to the season.

A good start to the season with good attendance to the first 3 matches and some promising weights if you were in the right swim. Obviously the river is low and the temperatures are high. We would ask all anglers to consider the welfare of the fish and not to use a keepnet where possible so the fish are less stressed in these current conditions. If any of the members are pike fishing then please take extra care in the recovery of any fish before releasing back into the water as they can become stressed in the hot/ low oxygen conditions.

We have seen 3 tench on the chiselhampton stretch which proves they are still there and breeding. If anyone has any unusual catches then please let us know for information. There are lots of crayfish traps out in the water but we will generally do our best to ensure these are not in an area where we expect you to be fishing. We have already removed nearly 3500 from the chiselhampton stretch and we will continue with our efforts throughout the season.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on the waters.

Happy angling

Richard Borrell
