A Funny Story From The Last Match

One of the biggest chub we heard of this year was during one of the last matches of the season which also resulted in the funniest story of the year (we all found it funny apart from the person involved anyway), one of our club members who shall remain nameless appeared with his new Christmas presents, a new rod and reel worth about 300quid. He caught a couple of chub and was on track to win the match when, whilst having a coffee brand new rod and reel bent around double then disappeared into the river, just above the bridge at Chiselhampton. After much swearing and a quick trip home to get waders and a garden rake, rod and reel was eventually retreated a couple of hours later, with a 6lb chub still attached! Unfortunately it was deemed too late in the day to include in his match weight.
