The Thame Valley Fisheries Preservation Consultative have received £55,000.00 compensation from Thames Water on behalf of the nine clubs that they represent. This money is to be distributed evenly with each club receiving the sum of £6111.11. At a recent meeting the CMVAA committee unanimously decided to spend our share of the money on stocking 1,000 adult barbel into the Drayton St. Leonard / Chiselhampton stretch of the river. The stocking is planned for November 2017 when the major habitat improvement works are completed. The stocking should significantly accelerate the Lower Thame Barbel Project as these fish should reach spawning age by the Spring of 2018/2019 when they are 4 - 5 years old. The expectation is that they will have an immediate beneficial effect on the fishing results for the benefit of all CMVAA members.
